Body Variations is a singular work, a suite, a song cycle, a soundtrack to your own private cerebral cinema.
The work travels through a soundscape of beings and beingness, calm and attack, playfulness and despair. The act of living. Existing. Surviving. Enjoying. Being shaped, bent, shifted.
The body is all things. The bigger body of all and through the microscope bodies within worlds of bodies. All in a constant state of variation.
The outcome of each thought, each drop of rain.

Purdy remains a unique, wonderful and undervalued Australian artist whose repertoire is gradually becoming a stellar pastiche of the melodic, found and or sampled sound, live playing, and very very clever production and arrangement. ​Body Variations ​is such a logical and satisfying progression from his ​Illumination ​album of 2012, and I for one will wait with delight and anticipation for his next adventure in audio.
